Agartala, June 6, 2025: In a significant step toward promoting renewable energy and a pollution-free environment, Tripura Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu today called upon the people of the state to actively participate in building a cleaner, greener Tripura.
The Governor made this appeal while inaugurating a 40-kilowatt rooftop solar power plant installed at Raj Bhavan under the initiative of the Tripura Renewable Energy Development Agency (TREDA). He emphasized that the Central Government is strongly focusing on electricity generation through renewable sources and is also providing subsidies to encourage the installation of solar power systems.
The Governor advised citizens to install rooftop solar power plants on their homes to meet their electricity needs and to sell the surplus power to the electricity department. He further highlighted that in rural areas, such systems could be implemented through self-help groups to provide electricity to individual households. He also noted that solar power can play a crucial role in the agricultural sector.
The event at Raj Bhavan was also attended by U. K. Chakma, Secretary to the Governor, and Debabrata Shukla Das, Director of TREDA, among others. This information was shared via an official release from Raj Bhavan.
