Tripura, June 6, 2025: Tripura Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha, during a public programme at Gitanjali Auditorium in Kumarghat, laid the foundation stone and inaugurated 15 key development projects with a combined estimated value of ₹26.56 crore on Yesterday. The Chief Minister, while addressing the gathering, echoed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s firm stance on national security, emphasizing that terrorism is the enemy of humanity and will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
Referring to the recently conducted Operation Sindoor, the Chief Minister highlighted that nine terror hideouts were neutralized as part of the mission. He noted that the operation sends a clear message from the Prime Minister: “Terror and trade cannot go hand in hand.”

The event also marked the foundation stone laying of infrastructure initiatives, including the new Kumarghat Sub-Divisional Magistrate’s Office, development of Betachhara Higher Secondary School, multipurpose centres at Sadhu Chandra Para and Seba Chandra Para under PM-JANMAN, and a new fire station at Pencharthal.
Among the ten inaugurated projects were the newly constructed building of Pencharthal Primary Health Centre, additional classrooms at Shantipur High School and North East Kanchanbari High School, four new sub-health centre buildings at Sonaichhari, Saidabari, Betachhara, and Deovalley, a new RCC footbridge at Ratiabari, a new Tehsil office at Makuchhara, and new science lab and art & craft rooms at Dudhpur School. All projects are being implemented under the supervision of the Rural Development Department.
The Chief Minister began the programme by planting saplings on the premises of Gitanjali Auditorium in observance of World Environment Day, joined by senior officials and dignitaries. He spoke about the government’s commitment to sustainability, noting that last year, over five lakh trees were planted across Tripura in a single coordinated campaign by the Forest Department.
During his address, Dr. Saha also emphasized the importance of inclusive development. He mentioned that, from January to May 2025 alone, the state has launched or completed infrastructure projects worth ₹578 crore. Citing progress in governance, he said the “Every Home Good Governance” campaign has helped raise awareness and improve delivery of central and state schemes to remote communities.
In his speech, the Chief Minister underlined that Tripura has now climbed to second place among northeastern states in terms of per capita income, just behind Assam. He also shared updates on efforts to resume operations at the Kailashahar airstrip and ongoing work to address river embankment erosion issues in Unakoti district.
Joining the Chief Minister at the programme were Industries and Commerce Minister Santana Chakma, who said the day marked a new chapter in Kumarghat’s development. She highlighted that the projects would greatly improve essential services like clean drinking water, electricity, education, and healthcare.
Local MLA Bhagaban Chandra Das also addressed the audience, emphasizing the importance of continued grassroots development. The event was formally opened with a welcome address by Unakoti District Magistrate Dr. Tamal Majumdar, and concluded with a vote of thanks from Additional District Magistrate Arghya Saha. Among the other officials present were Dr. K. Shashi Kumar, Secretary of the Tribal Welfare Department, and Superintendent of Police Sudambika R.
Chief Minister Saha closed his remarks by highlighting that over 19,000 government jobs have been provided under the present administration, with more than 5,000 additional placements through outsourcing. He added that nearly 56,000 Self-Help Groups (SHGs) are now active in the state, with the government disbursing around ₹700 crore in revolving funds to strengthen their operations and empower people economically.
