Agartala, June 17, 2025: The Tripura Public Service Commission (TPSC) has issued a recruitment notification inviting online applications for 27 posts of Senior Computer Assistant under Group-C, Non-Gazetted category. The vacancies span three departments of the state government, offering eligible candidates a significant opportunity in the IT-enabled public sector.
According to the official notification, the available posts are distributed as follows:
Department of Industries and Commerce (Information Technology Division) – 2 posts (Unreserved) Home (Jail) Department – 16 posts (UR: 8, ST: 5, SC: 3), including 1 post for Persons with Disabilities and 6 posts reserved for women Finance Department (Taxes Organization) – 9 posts (UR: 3, ST: 5, SC: 1), including 1 post for Persons with Disabilities and 3 posts reserved for women
Officials have clarified that the number of posts may increase or decrease based on further requisitions from the departments. Any additional vacancies received by January 17, 2026, will be included in the ongoing recruitment process.
Eligibility and Criteria
Candidates must possess either a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Application/Computer Science or a graduate degree in any discipline supplemented by a one-year diploma in computer applications or an ‘O’ Level certification from a recognized institute. Holders of degrees such as B.Sc (IT), B.Tech (IT), MCA, or PGDCA (completed after graduation) are also considered eligible.
Applicants must be permanent residents of Tripura and possess the Permanent Resident Certificate (PRTC). The age limit is set between 21 and 40 years as of July 31, 2025, with a 5-year relaxation for SC, ST, Persons with Disabilities, and government servants.
Knowledge of Bengali or Kokborok is considered desirable, though not mandatory.
Application Timeline and Procedure
The online application process will begin on July 1, 2025, and will continue until 5:30 PM on July 31, 2025. Applications can only be submitted via the Commission’s official portal at https://tpsc.tripura.gov.in.
New applicants are required to complete a One-Time Profile Registration (OTPR) to generate a User ID before submitting the application.
Fee Structure
General Category: ₹200 ST/SC/BPL/Physically Handicapped: ₹150 The application fee is non-refundable.
Selection Procedure
The selection will be conducted in two phases — a Written Examination worth 85 marks, followed by an Interview/Personality Test worth 15 marks. The written exam is tentatively scheduled for January 18, 2026.
Shortlisting for the interview will follow a specific ratio:
For 1 vacancy – Top 5 candidates For 2 vacancies – Top 8 candidates For 3 or more vacancies – Three times the number of available posts
In the event of a tie in final marks, preference will be given based on the candidate’s age. If age is also the same, academic performance in the minimum qualification will be considered.
Written Exam Structure
The examination will comprise three sections:
English (20 marks) – Grammar, sentence correction, vocabulary General Knowledge & Current Affairs (20 marks) Job-Oriented Section (45 marks) – Covering fundamentals of computer science, programming in C and Visual Basic, networking, database management (SQL, DBMS), ICT tools, hardware assembly, troubleshooting, and multimedia technology.
Job Role Highlights
Selected candidates will be responsible for a wide range of technical and administrative duties, including supervising online government platforms, supporting e-Governance applications, conducting IT training, and troubleshooting software or hardware issues. Routine office tasks such as drafting, data entry, and file handling will also be part of the role.
