Jampuijala, June 30: The Baba Garia Mission School, under the guidance of Jamatia Hoda, celebrated its 24th Foundation Day on Sunday with a grand cultural and community gathering at Garia Academy (Model), Bidhi Bazar, Jampuijala.
The event was organized by Jamatia Hoda, the apex traditional council of the Jamatia community, which has spearheaded the Baba Garia Mission since its inception. The mission, established in 2001, is a non-profit organization dedicated to education, health, and overall community development. Over the past two decades, it has grown into a transformative movement across Tripura, particularly among indigenous communities.

One of its key achievements is the establishment of Garia Academy, a co-educational, English-medium, residential secondary school. While the academy began its journey in 2001, it was formally established on April 1, 2013. The first campus was set up in Atharobla, Udaipur, and has since inspired the establishment of similar institutions in various parts of the state. Notably, the academy has also secured CBSE affiliation, a significant milestone reflecting its commitment to academic excellence.
Speaking at the event, community leaders reaffirmed the Hoda’s ongoing efforts to expand access to quality education. The mission is now actively working toward the establishment of a college, with a long-term vision of setting up a university. Leaders emphasized their collective belief that “Education is everything,” which remains the guiding motto of the organization.
The celebration was attended by several dignitaries and respected figures from the community, including:
Bipra Kumar Jamatia, Okra (Head Priest), Duluknara Kami, Burima Moial Manindra Mohan Jamatia, Okra, Bagma Khampar, Yalwkma Moial, MLA Ram Pada Jamatia, CEM of TTAADC, Purna Chandra Jamatia, Moil Panchai, along with other senior members of Jamatia Hoda.
Cultural performances by students, traditional songs, and speeches marked the day as a reflection of pride, perseverance, and vision for the future. The event concluded with a pledge to continue the mission’s legacy of empowerment through education and social progress.
