Agartala, June 28, 2025: The Tripura Government has set a strong example of transparent recruitment, said Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha while addressing an appointment letter distribution event held at Muktdhara Auditorium in Agartala yesterday. Highlighting the significance of employment for families, he reiterated the state government’s commitment to expanding job opportunities in the coming days.
The Chief Minister informed that since 2018, the state government has provided a total of 19,484 government jobs, including die-in-harness appointments, through a transparent recruitment policy till June 2025. Additionally, 5,700 people have been hired through outsourcing, and 2,987 individuals in security and other services. Moreover, 305 youth were placed in private industries across the country through job fairs in the financial year 2024–25.
Today, CM Saha personally handed over appointment letters to 30 newly recruited candidates, while a total of 222 appointments were made in the health and education departments.
Urging the new recruits to work with a “Yes, I can do it” mindset, the Chief Minister encouraged them to actively contribute to implementing central and state welfare schemes and remain committed to solving people’s problems. Reflecting on unemployment statistics, he said that in 2018–19, Tripura’s unemployment rate stood at 10%, much higher than the national average of 5.8%. By 2023–24, the state brought it down drastically to 1.7%, compared to the national average of 3.2%.
He also emphasized that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed India includes nurturing both merit and skill in the youth. “PM Modi has shown what true development means, and Tripura is following the same path since 2018,” he stated. He cited the introduction of e-office systems from the panchayat to cabinet level and revealed that Tripura now ranks second in per capita income in the Northeast region.
In the last six months, the state has inaugurated or laid foundation stones for projects worth ₹638 crore to boost development. Special attention is being given to ensure higher education for Tripura’s youth, and coaching centers have been launched at sub-divisional levels to reduce reliance on private tutors.
Dr. Saha highlighted the implementation of the National Education Policy and noted with pride that Tripura has become the third fully literate state in India, calling it a matter of pride for all residents.
On law and order, he asserted that the situation in the state has improved significantly, with new women police stations being opened to enhance women’s safety. He also appealed to all sections of society to support the campaign against drug abuse and HIV/AIDS to help build a drug-free Tripura.
Special Secretary of the Education Department Ravel Hemendra Kumar delivered the welcome address. Other dignitaries present included Health Department Additional Secretary Rajib Dutta, Director of Elementary Education N.C. Sharma, Director of Family Welfare and Preventive Medicine Dr. Anjan Das, and Director of Health Services Dr. Tapan Das.
