Agartala, June 24: In a coordinated operation on Monday evening, personnel of the Agartala Government Railway Police (GRP) and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) apprehended a woman at Agartala Railway Station with a large quantity of illegal cannabis.
The accused, identified as Aparna Debbarma (29), a resident of Karaimura, Amtali under Bishramganj Police Station in Sepahijala district, was allegedly attempting to smuggle the contraband to Delhi via train.

Officials recovered 21.490 kilograms of dry cannabis, neatly packed in nine packets and concealed within a trolley bag. Preliminary questioning revealed that the woman had previously trafficked smaller amounts of ganja on at least three occasions using different railway stations. This was reportedly her first attempt to use Agartala Station for such activities.
According to police sources, the seized consignment could have fetched around ₹7.5 lakh in the Delhi narcotics market.
The accused is currently in custody, and further investigation is underway to identify the source and network behind the attempted trafficking.
