Dharmanagar, 21st June 2025: Yoga originated in our country, and thanks to the sincere efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, it has now reached across the world. This was stated by Tripura Forest Minister Animesh Debbarma while addressing the district-level International Yoga Day celebration in North Tripura today.
The event, organized by the North Tripura District Administration, was held at the Vivekananda Sardha Shatabarshiki Bhavan premises in Dharmanagar. Inaugurating the programme, Forest Minister Animesh Debbarma highlighted that Prime Minister Modi has guided the world through yoga. He recalled that in 2014, the Prime Minister proposed at the United Nations to observe June 21 as International Yoga Day, which was supported by 177 countries.

The Minister emphasized that yoga plays a vital role in maintaining harmony between mind and body and is essential for overall physical well-being.
Speaker of the Tripura Legislative Assembly, Biswabandhu Sen, also addressed the gathering, stating that the roots of yoga lie in India, but Prime Minister Narendra Modi has helped spread those roots worldwide.
The event began with a welcome address by District Magistrate Chandni Chandran. Other dignitaries present included North Tripura Zilla Parishad Chairperson Aparna Nath, Vice-Chairperson Bhabatosh Das, State Secretary T. K. Debnath, social worker Kajal Kumar Das, Dharmanagar Municipal Council Chairperson Mitali Rani Das Sen, and Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Dharmanagar Sajal Debnath.
Block-level Yoga Day celebrations were also held today in Yubarajnagar, Kalacherra, and Kadamtala blocks under the Dharmanagar sub-division.
