Tripura, 21 June 2025: Unakoti District’s Pecharthal Police Station once again marked its name in the list of successful anti-narcotics operations. On Saturday, police seized approximately 1,800 bottles of Phensedyl from an Agartala-bound Seema Night Super bus (registration no. AS 01 LC 1412), which had arrived from Guwahati. The contraband was recovered from near the police station, cleverly concealed inside the vehicle. Despite the smugglers’ creative attempts, the operation ended in police success.
The estimated market value of the seized cough syrup bottles is over ₹9 lakh. Along with the seizure, the driver of the vehicle, Bapi Das, a resident of GB 79 Tilla, Agartala, was arrested.
The operation was led by the newly appointed Kumarghat Sub-Divisional Police Officer Utplendu Debnath, Pecharthal Officer-in-Charge Suman Acharya, Second Officer-in-Charge, along with other police personnel, TSR jawans, and SPOs.
Upon receiving information about the seizure, DCM Govinda Sarkar from the office of the Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Kumarghat, rushed to the scene.
The bust is being hailed as yet another strong message against narcotics trafficking in the region.
