Agartala, June 21: An interactive meeting was organised yesterday by the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Tripura, with editors and representatives of various print, electronic, and web media platforms. The meeting took place at the state guest house and was attended by Chief Electoral Officer Brijesh Pandey, Additional CEO Ushajen Mog, and Director of Information and Cultural Affairs Bimbisaar Bhattacharjee, among others.
During the meeting, CEO Brijesh Pandey emphasized the crucial role the media plays in disseminating information to the public in a prompt and accessible manner. He stated that for free, fair, and transparent elections, it is essential to implement various laws and regulations from time to time. He also pointed out that to avoid any negative perceptions among the public, regular interaction between the media and the election office is guided by directives from the Election Commission of India.


Pandey further highlighted the importance of coordination between the media and departments involved in conducting elections, stating that such interactive sessions are valuable in strengthening that cooperation.
Notable journalists such as Manas Pal, Jayanta Debnath, Abhishek Dey, Sujit Dey, Manisha Pal Chowdhury, Hirak Gupta, and Sandeep Biswas also shared their views during the session. Representatives from All India Radio, Doordarshan Tripura, Headlines Tripura, News Vanguard, Manush Patrika, News Today, TripuraIndia.com, and TripuraToday.com were also present.
As a gesture of engagement, the Chief Electoral Officer handed over copies of the booklet titled India Votes – A Saga of Democracy to all attendees.
