Agartala, June 16, 2025: With the vision of achieving 100% development in every sector for the indigenous tribal communities of Tripura, the state government has launched the state-level Dharti Aba Janbhagidari Abhiyan today at Pragna Bhavan, Agartala. The initiative, which will run till June 30, aims to deliver the benefits of various Central and State Government schemes directly to tribal households.
Speaking at the inauguration, Minister for Tribal Welfare Bikash Debbarma stated that the development of indigenous people is one of the top priorities of the current state administration. He emphasized that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, unprecedented steps have been taken for the socio-economic upliftment of tribal communities—something not seen in previous regimes.

As part of the campaign, camps will be held across all village committees inhabited by indigenous communities, where beneficiaries will be able to access services from 20 different departments. The Minister noted that a section of the tribal population still lacks awareness about government schemes, and this campaign would play a vital role in bridging that gap. Addressing students at the event, he stressed that education alone is not enough—they must also contribute actively to the progress of society. He encouraged them to take greater interest in sports and cultural pursuits.
Cooperation Minister Shuklacharan Noatia also spoke at the program, remarking that building a developed India by 2047 will only be possible through the comprehensive development of tribal communities. He pointed out that no previous government had honored the legacy of tribal freedom fighter Bhagwan Birsa Munda as the present government has. Highlighting other achievements, he mentioned that after the formation of the current state government in 2018, malaria outbreaks in hill areas have significantly declined, thanks to focused efforts across departments.
Distinguished guests at the event included T.R. Paite, MD & Chairman of the National Scheduled Tribes Finance and Development Corporation; Nagendra Debbarma, Director of the TRP & PTG Department; and Ratnadeep Debbarma, Director of the Tribal Research and Cultural Institute.
The program also witnessed the virtual inauguration of online smart classes for various schools across the state, launched by the Tribal Welfare Minister. Additionally, he held an interactive session with tribal students residing in boarding hostels. Two meritorious tribal students who excelled in national-level competitions were also felicitated at the event.
