Imphal, June 14, 2025: In a major breakthrough, security forces in Manipur recovered a massive cache of arms and ammunition during coordinated intelligence-based operations conducted on the intervening night of June 13 and 14 across five districts of the state.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs regarding the presence of concealed weapons in multiple locations, joint teams of Manipur Police, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), the Indian Army, and Assam Rifles launched simultaneous search operations in the outskirts of the targeted districts. The operation led to the seizure of an extensive quantity of arms, ammunition, and warlike stores.

In addition, the forces seized:
591 assorted magazines 3,534 SLR rounds 2,186 INSAS rounds 2,252 .303 rounds 234 AK rounds 407 Amogh rounds 20 9mm rounds 10 grenades 3 lathodes 7 detonators 3 parachutes
This marks one of the largest single-day recoveries of illegal arms in recent times, amid continuing efforts by the state to curb insurgency and restore peace.
“This successful operation underscores the synergy between Manipur Police and central security forces and reflects our unwavering commitment to restoring normalcy and ensuring public safety,” the official statement read.
Senior police officials confirmed that efforts are being intensified to identify the origin and intended use of the recovered weapons. Investigations are currently underway, and authorities have not ruled out the involvement of insurgent groups.
The Manipur Police has urged citizens to remain alert and cooperate with law enforcement agencies by reporting any suspicious activities or information related to illegal weapons.
