Tripura, 09 June 2025: In a significant development, police in Ambassa detained five suspected Myanmar nationals from a residence in Lalchari under Ambassa Police Station. Acting on local tip-offs, authorities brought the individuals in for questioning. Preliminary investigation revealed that all five are citizens of Myanmar.
According to police sources, the group had been staying for the past week at the residence of one Bina Debbarma in Lalchari. Among the five, one is reportedly a child. Notably, only three of the detainees possess valid passports, while the remaining two lack any travel documentation, including visas.





The individuals claimed they came to Tripura to visit a friend. However, their statements have raised suspicions, and police are further verifying the authenticity of their claims and documents.
Speaking to the media, Ambassa Police Station’s Second Officer-in-Charge Prakrit Jamatiya said the initial information came from local residents who suspected the identity of the individuals. He confirmed that police are checking the background and legality of their stay, noting that similar cases involving Myanmar nationals have previously come to light in Tripura.
Local residents expressed concern over the presence of undocumented foreigners and are urging authorities to conduct a thorough investigation.
