New Delhi, 5 June 2025: In a significant move to dismantle the terror ecosystem in Jammu & Kashmir, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday carried out searches at 32 locations across the Union Territory. The action is part of ongoing investigations into a broader conspiracy hatched by Pakistan-backed terrorist organisations to destabilise the region.
The searches, conducted across multiple districts of Kashmir, targeted residential premises of hybrid terrorists and overground workers allegedly linked to banned outfits such as The Resistance Front (TRF), United Liberation Front Jammu & Kashmir (ULFJ&K), Mujahideen Gazwat-ul-Hind (MGH), Jammu & Kashmir Freedom Fighters (JKFF), Kashmir Tigers, and PAAF. These groups are believed to be offshoots of proscribed terror outfits like Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), and Al-Badr.
According to NIA, the individuals under investigation are suspected of facilitating terrorist activities, including the distribution of sticky bombs, IEDs, arms, narcotics, and terror funding. They are also accused of sheltering terrorists and serving as vital links in the logistical and operational support network for cross-border terror operations.
The agency’s preliminary findings suggest that handlers based in Pakistan have been radicalising local youth and mobilising overground workers via encrypted communication platforms and social media. Drones have been extensively used to drop arms, explosives, and narcotics in the Valley.
During the raids, NIA recovered two live cartridges, one fired bullet head, and one bayonet. Additionally, digital devices and documents containing sensitive data were seized. These materials are currently under forensic examination and are expected to offer further insight into the extent and coordination of the terror network.
The NIA reiterated its commitment to unearthing and dismantling all forms of terror infrastructure operating in Jammu & Kashmir and affirmed that investigations are ongoing.
