Tripura, 5 June 2025: A two-day-long Jagoroni Utsav commenced today at Palatana in Udaipur, with Tripura Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy formally inaugurating the event Yesterday. Speaking at the inauguration, the Minister emphasized that “God is one, though we call Him by different names and seek His blessings in various ways.” He highlighted that while religion may be personal, festivals belong to everyone. Festivals foster unity among people across different communities, castes, and religions, thereby strengthening social harmony.
He further added that merely constructing temples is not enough worship must be carried out with proper rituals and devotion. Religious festivals bring people together, leaving no room for division or discrimination, he noted.
Local MLA Jitendra Majumder also addressed the gathering, stating that the Shitala Mata temple at Palatana is an ancient and spiritually significant site. He stressed the need to preserve the ideals and traditions of Hindu Sanatan Dharma. “A fair is a celebration of unity,” he said, adding that such gatherings help reinforce social bonds.
The welcome address was delivered by Udaipur Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Tridip Sarkar, and the event was presided over by Gomati Zilla Parishad Chairperson Debal Debroy. Among the dignitaries present were BDO Anindya Dutta Majumder, Joint Director of the Department of Information and Cultural Affairs Ajay Dey, social worker Biswajit Sarkar, and other notable personalities.
