Tripura, 03 June 2025: A shocking incident has sparked outrage in Gokulnagar, Fatikroy, where a serving Tripura State Rifles (TSR) jawan was brutally assaulted on his way home after completing duty. Despite a formal complaint being lodged, no arrests have been made so far.
The victim, Sanju Malakar, is currently posted with the 15th Battalion of TSR at Kumarghat’s Saydabad area. On Saturday, after finishing his duty, he was on his way home in Gokulnagar for personal work when the incident occurred. The altercation reportedly started over a dispute related to parking a bicycle in the local market area.
According to reports, four local miscreants identified as Sajal Malakar, Subrata Malakar, Bikash Das, and Sushanta Malakar launched a life-threatening attack on the jawan. Sanju Malakar suffered severe injuries, including a fractured rib, head trauma, and multiple injuries across his body.
Despite the gravity of the attack, no arrests had been made as of Tuesday. That day, Sanju Malakar and his family members formally filed an FIR at the Fatikroy Police Station, providing the names of all four accused.
Residents of Gokulnagar are now closely watching the response of Officer-in-Charge Partha Nath Bhumik, who is expected to conduct an on-ground investigation. The community is demanding justice and swift action against the accused.
The incident has triggered widespread condemnation, especially given that the victim is a state security personnel, raising serious concerns over the safety of jawans off-duty.
