Soreng, June 22, 2025: In a significant breakthrough, the Soreng Police station under Soreng District has successfully intercepted one Spacio SK02J/0424 Siliguri to Soreng daily taxi service and apprehended one person namely Akhil Akhtar resident of Islampur presently residing at Daragoan, Soreng who is suspected to be in possession of contraband substances . The arrest took place at Church Fatak,near Bhir Dara,Soreng on June 21, 2025 at around 1600 hrs.
During search by Police Officers, one black coloured plastic pouch containing mud coloured substance suspected to be Brown Sugar weighing 8.33 grams have been recovered and seized from his possession.
A case under the relevant sections of NDPS Act and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023 has been registered for active investigation .
The accused Akhil Akhtar, tailor by profession at Soreng, who had been under the radar of Soreng District Police since long have been arrested and the contraband substances has been seized.
