India and the EU aim to conclude their Free Trade Agreement (FTA) by the end of 2025, focusing on market access, supply chain resilience, and innovation-led economic growth
New Delhi, May 2 (SHABD): India and the European Union have reaffirmed their commitment to concluding a comprehensive Free Trade Agreement (FTA) by the end of 2025, with the goal of enhancing bilateral trade, reinforcing global supply chains, and fostering innovation-driven growth. In a recent high-level dialogue, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal met with EU Commissioner for Trade and Economic Security, Maroš Šefčovič, to discuss key aspects of the proposed agreement.
The discussions centred around improving market access for businesses, building resilient and diversified supply chains, and boosting innovation to enhance economic competitiveness. Both leaders underscored the importance of strong political will and collaborative engagement in advancing negotiations. They expressed optimism about achieving a balanced, fair, and future-ready FTA that supports sustainable development and strengthens economic cooperation between India and the European bloc.
The FTA, once concluded, is expected to open new avenues for trade, investment, and technological collaboration between the two strategic partners.
