Dharmanagar, Mar 28. Dharmanagar police have arrested one suspect in connection with a violent clash in Mangalkhali, North Tripura, that left Khaled Ahmed dead and his brother Junaid Ahmed critically injured. The confrontation, which occurred on Saturday evening, stemmed from a long-standing financial dispute.
According to local sources, a group of assailants attacked the two brothers with sharp weapons. Both were seriously injured and rushed to Dharmanagar District Hospital, where Khaled Ahmed succumbed to his injuries. Junaid Ahmed remains in critical condition at a hospital outside the state.
The incident sparked widespread anger in the area. Residents staged a road blockade on Sunday, demanding the immediate arrest of the culprits. Traffic was disrupted for several hours until police arrived with additional forces and assured swift action.
Acting on a tip-off late Friday night, Dharmanagar police arrested one of the prime suspects, Zaher Uddin, from Ragna. Preliminary investigations indicate a total of five people were involved.
Authorities are intensifying searches to apprehend the remaining four suspects.
Police have increased patrolling in Mangalkhali to maintain law and order, while residents demand strict action to prevent future violent incidents in the area.
