Agartala, May 2026: Tripura Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Friday reiterated the commitment of the BJP-led governments at the Centre and in the state towards women empowerment, stating that several initiatives undertaken under the “double-engine government” have significantly strengthened the socio-economic status of women across the state.
The minister was addressing a BJP Mahila Morcha conference held at Birendranagar School Ground under the Majlishpur Assembly constituency. The event witnessed the participation of a large number of women workers and party supporters, reflecting the growing involvement of women in political and social activities.
Speaking on the occasion, Chowdhury said that women empowerment remains one of the top priorities of both the Central and State governments. He noted that various welfare schemes, livelihood programmes and economic empowerment initiatives have enabled women to become self-reliant and contribute more actively to society and the economy.
“The double-engine BJP government at the Centre and in the state is working with utmost importance on women empowerment. As a result, a large section of our mothers and sisters have become capable of achieving self-reliance in various fields today,” he said.
Highlighting the role of women in nation-building and community development, the minister said that the government is committed to creating more opportunities for women through education, skill development, entrepreneurship and social welfare programmes. He added that empowering women is essential for ensuring inclusive growth and sustainable development.
Chowdhury also expressed satisfaction over the enthusiastic participation of women at the conference. He said the energy, dedication and confidence displayed by the attendees reflected the continued faith of the people in the BJP government and its policies.
“Witnessing the enthusiasm and spirit of the women participants at today’s conference, I am confident that all attempts by vested interests will fail. The people’s trust and faith in the double-engine government remain unwavering,” he remarked.
The conference served as a platform for discussing organizational activities, women-centric welfare programmes and future strategies to further strengthen grassroots engagement among women in the state.
The programme was attended by Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor and MLA Dipak Majumder as the special guest. Majlishpur Mandal President Ranjit Roy Chowdhury, Mahila Morcha leaders and several party functionaries were also present at the event.
