Dharmanagar, Mar 30: With the by-election approaching, the BJP has stepped up its campaign in Dharmanagar, with Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Deepak Majumder leading a high-profile outreach in support of party candidate Jahar Chakraborty. Expressing strong confidence, Majumder said the candidate is likely to secure a decisive victory.
On Monday, a vigorous door-to-door campaign was carried out across Dharmanagar town and nearby areas. The drive saw active participation from party leaders, workers, and supporters, aiming to consolidate voter support ahead of polling.
Speaking to the media, Mayor Majumder described Jahar Chakraborty as a “gentle and dedicated leader” who has long served the BJP in key organisational roles. He added that the party has full faith in Chakraborty’s leadership and expects a strong mandate in the by-election.
The campaign also included Barnali Goswami, former Chairperson of the State Women’s Commission and Chakraborty’s spouse, along with former Kisan Morcha leader Biswajit Deb and other local and district BJP leaders.
The Dharmanagar Assembly constituency has witnessed intensified political activity in recent days, with ministers, MLAs, and senior party functionaries from within and outside the state campaigning extensively. BJP leaders remain confident of retaining the seat despite opposition efforts.
