Dharmanagar: Mar 23. Families of Special Police Officers (SPOs) in North Tripura on Monday submitted a deputation to Superintendent of Police Avinash Rai, pressing a 10-point charter of demands, primarily seeking regular pay, allowances, and equal benefits.
The families alleged that SPO personnel perform round-the-clock duties similar to regular police constables but are deprived of monthly salaries, allowances, and other essential benefits throughout the year. They also claimed that SPOs are excluded from several facilities provided to other Tripura Police personnel.
In the deputation, they urged the authorities to address their grievances at the earliest, highlighting disparities in service conditions despite comparable workloads.
Family members stated that although SPO Jawan works the same hours and shoulder similar responsibilities as constables, they are not receiving benefits proportional to their duties.
The deputation underscores growing discontent among SPO families over pay structure and service conditions, with calls for immediate administrative intervention.
