Agartala, Mar 20: The Tripura Police has placed Inspector (UB) Lakshabir Jamatia, Officer-in-Charge of Silachari Police Station in Gomati district, under immediate suspension over alleged gross negligence and non-compliance with directives of the Supreme Court of India.
The suspension order was issued by the Director General of Police, Tripura, invoking provisions under Rule 10(1) of the Central Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1965. A departmental disciplinary proceeding against the officer is currently under consideration.
As per the order, Jamatia will remain under suspension with his headquarters attached to the Office of the Superintendent of Police (Gomati). He has been directed not to leave the headquarters without prior permission from the competent authority.
During the suspension period, he will be entitled to subsistence allowance as per applicable rules.
The Superintendent of Police, Gomati, has been instructed to ensure that the suspension order is formally served to the officer and that acknowledgement is forwarded to Police Headquarters for official records.
Copies of the order have also been circulated to senior police officials, including the Deputy Inspector General (Southern Range) and other top functionaries for information.
