Agartala, March 21, 2026: In a late-night operation, Tripura Police arrested a youth, identified as Mangal Koloi, for allegedly creating and circulating an objectionable social media post targeting Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha using artificial intelligence.
According to police sources, the arrested took place around 3:00 AM from the Nandan Nagar area in Agartala. A large police team conducted the operation, causing a stir among local residents who were surprised by the sudden midnight Action.

The Case stems from a viral post shared on social media under the name “Khorang Tipra,” where an AI-generated image allegedly depicted the Chief Minister in a controversial and defamatory manner. The post quickly spread across platforms, triggering strong reactions.
Sources indicate that the content was created during a politically sensitive period linked to the upcoming TTAADC elections. At the time, the Chief Minister had reportedly traveled to New Delhi for an important meeting. The viral post falsely portrayed him in a compromising situation involving Tipra Motha leadership, which intensified the controversy.
Following the circulation of the post, a complaint was filed at Agartala West Police Station by BJP Tripura General Secretary Bipin Debbarma. Based on the FIR, police launched an investigation and tracked down the accused.
Police further revealed that Mangal Koloi allegedly operated two Facebook pages “Jorani News” and “Khorang Tripura.” While one page reportedly shared content favorable to BJP, the other was used to criticize the party.
The accused is currently in police custody and is being interrogated. Authorities have stated that appropriate legal action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
The incident has sparked widespread discussion on the misuse of AI technology and the growing challenge of regulating misinformation on social media platforms.
