Khowai, Mar 20. Defying stormy weather, CPIM-backed candidates on Friday filed their nomination papers in Khowai for the upcoming Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections, scheduled to be held next month.
The candidates—Karim Debbarma from Asharambari constituency and Samaresh Debbarma from Ramchandraghat constituency submitted their nominations before the Returning Officer and Sub-Divisional Magistrate Nirmal Kumar at the Khowai Sub-Divisional office.
Earlier in the day, a large rally was organised by the party, braving heavy rain and winds. The procession began from the CPIM Khowai district office and moved through key parts of the town before culminating at the SDM office. Party supporters, including both tribal and non-tribal communities, gathered in significant numbers, with many arriving from different parts of the subdivision and even from Kamalpur.
Senior party leaders, including CPIM Khowai District Secretary Padma Kumar Debbarma, State Committee member Palash Bhowmik, and other district and subdivision leaders, participated in the rally and accompanied the candidates during the nomination process.
Addressing party workers and supporters outside the SDM office, leaders reiterated their commitment to strengthening grassroots governance and expressed confidence in the party’s performance in the upcoming ADC elections.
Despite adverse weather conditions, the rally witnessed enthusiastic participation throughout its route, covering major roads and localities of Khowai town before concluding at Office Tilla.
The nomination process is currently underway across various constituencies in Tripura as political activities intensify ahead of the TTAADC polls.
