Agartala, Mar 18: In a major healthcare outreach, Topcem Cement has expanded its cleft surgery initiative to Tripura, where 20 free surgeries for children born with cleft lip and palate will be conducted between March 23 and March 28.
The programme, implemented in collaboration with Mission Smile, will cover beneficiaries from South Tripura, West Tripura, Dhalai and Gomoti districts. The surgeries will be performed by experienced medical teams, ensuring standardised care and post-operative support.
The expansion marks a significant step in the company’s regional welfare efforts. Topcem has already supported over 180 such surgeries across Assam and Meghalaya, benefiting children from economically weaker sections.
Cleft conditions, among the most common birth defects, often lead to difficulties in eating, speaking and social integration. The initiative aims to address both medical needs and social challenges by enabling affected children to lead healthier and more confident lives.
The company said the programme reflects its continued focus on improving healthcare accessibility and supporting vulnerable communities in the Northeast.
