Dhalai: Mar 11. Marking International Women’s Day, a Women’s Public Hearing and Special Awareness Camp was organized on Wednesday at the Panchayat Raj Training Institute in Ambassa to address women-related grievances and spread awareness about welfare schemes.
The programme was jointly organized by the Tripura State Commission for Women, the Dhalai District Administration, and the District Social Welfare and Social Education Department. The initiative aimed to resolve pending complaints related to women and children while informing participants about various Central and State government welfare schemes.
Chairperson of the Tripura State Commission for Women, Jharna Debbarma, attended the programme as the chief guest. Other dignitaries present included Commission member Ratna Debnath Kar, District Magistrate Vivek H. B., Additional District Magistrate Partha Das, Senior Deputy Collector Bhavesh Chandra Bhadra, and District Social Welfare and Social Education Officer Shankha Shubhra Sen.
Speaking to the media, Chairperson Jharna Debbarma said several cases have remained unresolved for long periods, often due to distance and other logistical challenges. The public hearing initiative has been launched to settle such pending matters, record new complaints, and ensure quicker resolution.
She added that the response to these hearings has been encouraging across the state, as they provide women a direct platform to present their grievances before the commission and district authorities.
