Agartala, Mar 11: Unidentified miscreants allegedly hurled a bomb at the residence of Tipra Motha’s Jampuijala Block President, Arjun Debbarma, late Tuesday night, triggering panic in the area.
Police began an investigation after receiving information about the incident on Wednesday afternoon. Jampuijala Sub-Divisional Police Officer Snehasish Kumar Deb, accompanied by Officer-in-Charge Mrinal Kanti Reang and Second Officer Shantanu Debbarma of Jampuijala Police Station, visited the house near Jampuijala Bazaar and assessed the situation.
The attack has created tension in the locality. According to local sources, the incident occurred at a time when political activities have intensified in the hill areas ahead of the announcement of the ADC elections.
Supporters of Tipra Motha alleged that BJP workers were behind the attack on the party leader’s residence. However, the allegation has not been officially confirmed by the police.
Police said an investigation has been launched to identify those involved and restore normalcy in the area.
