Khowai: Jan 13. Minister Sushanta Chowdhury held a press briefing at the Khoyai district office on Tuesday to explain why the MGNREGA scheme was renamed VB-G RAM G. The discussion provided details about the historic rural employment and livelihood initiative announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, aimed at providing guaranteed work and income security to rural households.
The briefing was attended by Khowai district BJP leaders, including General Secretary Samir Kumar Das, Mandal President Anukul Das, District President Binoy Debbarma, Municipal Council Chairman Debashish Nath Sharma, Zila Parishad Chairperson Aparna Singh Roy, and others.
The VB-G RAM G (Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission – Gramin) scheme ensures up to 125 days of employment per year for eligible rural families. It is designed to strengthen rural economies, expand employment opportunities, and provide stable income to beneficiaries.
Key features of the scheme include guaranteed and expanded employment in rural areas, timely and transparent wage payments, creation of durable assets such as roads, water conservation structures, schools, and health centers, and skill-based productive work opportunities. It also promotes self-reliance and labor dignity in villages.
The initiative reflects the Prime Minister’s vision of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas,” ensuring that even the most marginalized sections of society benefit from development.
Minister Chowdhury urged citizens, administrative officials, and elected representatives to actively support the implementation of the scheme. The VB-G RAM G project is expected to be a significant milestone in rural poverty alleviation, local employment generation, and building a developed India.
