Dharmanagar, Jan 10: Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Professor Manik Saha will arrive in North Tripura on a two-day visit starting Saturday, with the BJP stepping up administrative and organisational preparations ahead of his tour.
The visit is politically significant, as the Chief Minister’s primary focus will be on strengthening the BJP’s presence in the hill areas and boosting the party’s prospects ahead of upcoming elections, party sources said.
According to BJP sources, Dr. Saha will depart from Agartala on Saturday morning and first reach Kanchanpur. A large joining programme and public meeting will be held at Kanchanpur Motor Stand at 11 am in his presence on January 10. Later in the day, another massive public meeting and joining programme is scheduled at Damchhara Motor Stand under Panisagar Mandal at 3 pm.
Party leaders are hopeful that the two events will witness participation crossing the thousand mark, with several new members expected to join the BJP.
The Chief Minister will stay overnight at the Circuit House on Dharmanagar Jail Road. On Sunday, January 11, at 10 am, he will attend an organisational meeting at the North Tripura BJP district office.
During the visit, Dr. Saha will also pay a courtesy visit to the family of late Bishwabandhu Sen, former Speaker of the Tripura Legislative Assembly and MLA from Dharmanagar constituency.
