Tripura, 05 Jan 2026: Tension prevailed at the V-Mart outlet on Shakuntala Road – Agartala (V-Field) after an alleged altercation between three youths and the store’s manager and staff on Monday.
According to V-Mart authorities, the three youths were suspected of attempting theft inside the store. The management claimed that the same individuals had allegedly been involved in similar incidents two to three times earlier. Based on this suspicion, the store authorities reportedly contacted the guardians of the youths and apprised them of the matter.
However, the three youths strongly denied the allegations, stating that they had not committed any theft and had purchased the items with proper bills. They alleged that they were falsely accused, brutally assaulted by the manager and staff, and that their guardians were called with the intention of extorting a large sum of money.
The youths further alleged that V-Mart staff demanded ₹50,000 from them after accusing them of theft. They claimed that when they refused to pay the amount, they were stripped and brutally assaulted inside the premises. Acting on the complaint, the accused staff members were detained and brought to West Agartala Police Station for questioning.
Following the incident, all three youths along with six V-Mart staff members were brought to West Agartala Police Station for further inquiry. Police have taken up the matter and are investigating the incident from both sides.
