Howrah, May 3, 2025: In a proud moment for West Bengal, 27-year-old Mukesh Kumar, a dedicated social activist from Salap, Howrah, has been honored with the prestigious Rastriya Pratibha Samman 2025 by the Worthy Wellness Foundation Trust. The award was presented in recognition of his tireless and exemplary contribution to social welfare over the past eight years. Mukesh Kumar’s journey into social work began at a young age, long before accolades and recognition followed.
As a student, he actively engaged in grassroots activism, organizing health awareness campaigns in remote and underserved areas. His initiatives included promoting hygiene, nutritional awareness, and preventive healthcare among the underprivileged. He also played a crucial role in supporting the education of marginalized children by distributing study materials and arranging community tuition sessions.
During natural disasters and public health crises including floods and the COVID-19 pandemic Kumar was at the forefront, coordinating relief efforts and delivering aid across different parts of West Bengal. The Worthy Wellness Foundation Trust, a national organization dedicated to encouraging humanitarian efforts, recognized Kumar after closely observing his consistent service over more than eight years.
Impressed by the scale and sincerity of his work, the Trust’s award committee unanimously decided to honor him with this year’s Rastriya Pratibha Samman. Upon receiving the award, Kumar expressed his heartfelt gratitude. “Even before this, I have been honored by various organizations for my social work. When my efforts are appreciated by any institution, it becomes even more inspiring for me,” he said. He further added, “This recognition has only strengthened my resolve to continue working for the betterment of society.” Community leaders and residents of Howrah have lauded Kumar’s achievement, calling him a role model for today’s youth.
Many have noted that his humility, combined with an unshakeable commitment to service, sets a powerful example in an age often marked by self-interest and apathy. “Mukesh is a beacon of hope. His passion and commitment have inspired countless others to step up and give back to society,” said Mansi Bajpai, a local community organizer who has worked alongside Kumar on several initiatives.
“This award is not just a recognition of his past work, but also a call to support and amplify young changemakers like him.” The Rastriya Pratibha Samman is awarded annually to individuals who demonstrate outstanding talent and dedication in fields ranging from education and health to social activism and environmental sustainability.
Mukesh Kumar’s selection highlights the increasing importance of grassroots efforts in driving social change in India. As his story garners national attention, Mukesh Kumar stands as a testament to the power of compassion, dedication, and community spirit. At a time when society faces numerous challenges, his work serves as a reminder that real change begins with ordinary individuals who dare to make a difference.
Kumar plans to use the momentum from this award to expand his initiatives, particularly in rural education and women’s health. His ultimate goal remains unchanged to build a more equitable and just society where no one is left behind.
