NITI Aayog held its first consultation on Domestic Regulations in Professional Services, focusing on upskilling, tech adoption, and global competitiveness
New Delhi, May 2 (SHABD): NITI Aayog convened its first stakeholder consultation on Domestic Regulations in Professional Services on April 30 and May 1, 2025. The two-day event was chaired by NITI Aayog Member Dr. Arvind Virmani and organized in collaboration with the Centre for Trade and Investment Law (CTIL). Addressing the gathering, Dr. Virmani emphasized India’s demographic dividend and the growing global demand for skilled professionals. He underscored the critical role of capacity building, upskilling, and the integration of emerging technologies in enhancing service delivery and boosting India’s competitiveness in the global services market.
In her welcome address, Dr. Sonia Pant, Programme Director, Services Division at NITI Aayog, highlighted the sector’s significant contributions to Gross Value Added (GVA), employment, productivity, and exports. She called for comprehensive reforms in domestic regulations to foster sectoral growth and improve the ease of doing business in India. The consultation brought together industry leaders, policy experts, and representatives from professional bodies to identify key regulatory challenges and explore pathways for sustainable growth in the services sector.
