Tripura 18 March, 2025: A meeting of the Standing Committee on Poverty Alleviation of Khowai Zilla Parishad was held at the Zilla Parishad conference hall Yesterday. The meeting was presided over by Ruma Shuklabaidya, the Chairperson of the Poverty Alleviation Standing Committee.
Present at the meeting were Khowai Zilla Parishad’s Sabhadhipati Aparna Singha Roy (Dutta), Vice-Sabhadhipati Satyendra Chandra Das, and officials from various state government departments.
During the meeting, officials from the Drinking Water and Sanitation Department reported that, as of March 16 this year, water connections under the Jal Jeevan Mission have been provided to 16,846 households in Teliamura Block, 10,086 households in Kalyanpur Block, 5,188 households in Mungiakami Block, 12,038 households in Khowai Block, 8,572 households in Padmabil Block, and 9,333 households in Tulashikhar Block. Additionally, drinking water connections have been provided to 460 schools in the district.
The department also informed that a total of 350 Iron Removal Plants will be installed in various locations across Khowai district. Officials from the Fisheries Department reported that, in the current financial year, 68 fish farmers in Khowai district have been provided with rohu and catla fish seeds, while 35 fish farmers have received carp fish seeds. Additionally, 86 fish farmers have been supported for pabda fish farming, and 38 fish farmers have received assistance for freshwater prawn farming.
It was also informed that 40 beneficiaries under the Forest Rights Act have been brought under fish farming initiatives. Meanwhile, Subhendra Debbarma, Deputy Director of the District Horticulture and Soil Conservation Office, stated that six greenhouses will be constructed in Khowai district in the upcoming financial year. Additionally, 10 polyhouses will be set up across various block areas in the district.
