Lack of English Option in Kokborok Exam Sparks Controversy
Tripura 17 March, 2025: Several students faced difficulties during the CBSE board exams as the Kokborok subject question paper was only available in Bengali, with no English option. Many students struggled to understand the questions, causing major inconvenience during the exam.
Students expressed that having an English option alongside Bengali would have made the examination process much easier for them.

The demand for Roman script for the Kokborok Subject has been a long-standing issue among the Indigenous communities of Tripura.
Tipra Motha founder and royal scion Pradyot Kishore Manikya addressed the issue in a live session on social media. He pointed out that in some schools, teachers allegedly did not translate the question paper into English for Indigenous students.
Royal scion Pradyot Kishore stated that he would discuss the matter with Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha and also demanded an investigation against the concerned teachers. Additionally, he urged Tipra Motha MLAs to raise the issue in the upcoming Tripura Assembly session.
