New Delhi, March 10: Opposition parties, led by Congress, staged a walkout from the Rajya Sabha after their demand for a discussion on duplicate voter ID cards and alleged U.S. funding in Indian elections was denied. Union Minister J.P. Nadda stated that the government was prepared to discuss any issue within parliamentary rules.
However, opposition members continued raising slogans, insisting on an immediate debate. The walkout took place after Deputy Chairman Harivansh refused to allow Opposition Leader Mallikarjun Kharge to speak on the matter.
Criticizing the move, Nadda called the walkout “irresponsible and undemocratic,” while opposition leaders accused the government of avoiding critical electoral issues.
