Three Friends Accused of Murdering Their Fourth Friend and Dumping His Body in a Rubber Plantation; Suspects Detained at Takarjala Police Station
Tripura 11 Feb, 2025: In a shocking incident, three friends allegedly lured their fourth friend out of his house under the pretense of going for a trip and later murdered him, dumping his body in a rubber plantation. The incident took place in Paillavanga, under the jurisdiction of Takarjala Police Station in Jampuijala Block.
The deceased has been identified as Mangalcharan Debbarma (26), a rubber plantation worker. According to reports, on Monday evening, three of his friends: Jagyu Debbarma (27) from Briddhibazar, Jangsen Debbarma (29) from Jirania, and Ganesh Debbarma (26) from Paillavanga, Takarjala, took Mangalcharan out of his house.
When Mangalcharan did not return home till late at night, his wife, Jyotika Tripura, and family members grew anxious and started searching for him, but he was nowhere to be found. On Tuesday morning, local residents discovered his severely injured body in a rubber plantation, sending shockwaves through the entire village. His wife and villagers rushed him to Takarjala Community Health Centre, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. His body has been sent for post-mortem examination.
Upon receiving the news, Takarjala Police arrived at the scene. Jyotika Tripura informed the police that on Monday evening, her husband had gone out with his three friends to Shyamnagar Chaimura area, carrying a significant amount of cash from rubber sales. When he did not return, she suspected foul play. The next morning, his body was found in the rubber plantation. She accused the three friends of planning and executing the murder before dumping his body.
Following the complaint, the police detained the three accused friends and brought them to Takarjala Police Station for questioning. However, the accused claimed that Mangalcharan was injured in a bike accident, and they left him near his house close to the rubber plantation.
The incident has sparked tension and outrage in the Takarjala area, with locals demanding strict punishment for the accused. The police have registered a case based on Jyotika Tripura’s complaint and have launched a detailed investigation.
Meanwhile, Mangalcharan’s body was handed over to his family after the post-mortem. His grieving relatives and friends broke down upon receiving his body. Reports suggest that he is survived by his wife and two children.
