Tripura 6 Feb, 2025: Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha emphasized the importance of innovative teaching methods in ensuring quality education from the primary level. He stated that under the Nipun Tripura initiative, nearly 90,000 students are being provided with foundational education, in line with the National Education Policy (NEP). The Chief Minister made these remarks while inaugurating the State-Level Teaching-Learning Material (TLM) Exhibition and Competition at Rabindra Centenary Bhavan.
Highlighting the significance of NEP, the Chief Minister said that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the policy aims to equip children with analytical knowledge and foundational literacy and numeracy skills from an early age. He added that Nipun Tripura plays a crucial role in this, ensuring that children aged 3 to 7 build a strong educational foundation.
As part of the Nipun Mission, TLMs are essential tools for effective teaching in primary classrooms, the CM said. He emphasized that teachers are the driving force behind Nipun Tripura and hold the key responsibility for its implementation. The initiative, launched nationally on July 5, 2021, aims to achieve foundational literacy and numeracy for all students by the end of Grade 2 by 2026-27. In Tripura, Nipun Tripura was launched on November 18, 2022, with a target to benefit around 1.5 lakh students and 12,000 teachers across 4,227 government and government-aided schools.
The Chief Minister also visited exhibition stalls showcasing TLMs created by teachers from different districts. A booklet highlighting the Education Department’s achievements was unveiled at the event, along with the screening of a short documentary on Nipun Tripura.
During the event, awards were presented to district, block, and education officials for their contributions to the TLM competition. Additionally, Ramakrishna Mission School in Amtali Viveknagar was recognized for its outstanding work in foundational literacy and numeracy under the 360-degree Holistic Development Program.
Special Secretary of the Education Department, Raval Hemendra Kumar, delivered a speech as the guest of honor, while Director of Elementary Education, N.C. Sharma, gave the welcome address. SCERT Director L. Darlong was also present at the event.
