As a mark of respect for former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, a seven-day national mourning period will be observed across the country. Dr. Manmohan Singh passed away last night at AIIMS, New Delhi. The national mourning will be observed from December 26, 2024, to January 1, 2025.
The Ministry of Home Affairs announced that during this period, the national flag will be flown at half-mast in all places where it is regularly hoisted. No official entertainment programs will be organized during the mourning period.
The last rites of the former Prime Minister will be conducted with full state honors. On the day of the funeral, the national flag will also be flown at half-mast at Indian embassies and high commissions around the world.
