Agartala, Mar 31. Amid the ongoing campaign for the ADC elections, IPFT candidate Jitiram Tripura undertook a humanitarian initiative by extending assistance to a storm-affected family in the 26-Birchandranagar–Kalsi constituency under Santirbazar subdivision.
During his campaign visit, Tripura came across the family of Shefali Tripura Debbarma, a mother of three, living in distress after their house roof was damaged by recent storms. Her husband, a daily wage labourer, has been struggling to support the family, and the damaged roof has made living conditions extremely difficult, especially during rainfall, forcing them to take shelter in a corner of the house.
Despite having a BPL ration card with eight listed members, the family has reportedly been unable to access government benefits due to internal family distribution issues.
On learning about their condition, the IPFT candidate, along with party workers and supporters, immediately took steps to arrange materials for repairing the roof. The repair work, initially scheduled to begin immediately, has been deferred for a few days as the head of the family is currently away for work.
Party sources confirmed that the house will soon be repaired and made habitable. IPFT Youth Advisory Chairman Manik Tripura also expressed concern over the family’s condition.
Local residents said the initiative has received a positive response, noting that such gestures during election campaigning reflect attention to immediate public needs.
