Karbook, Mar 29. The 52nd state-level Biju festival, a major cultural event of the Chakma community, will be held from April 13 to 15 at Jharjharia High School ground in Uttar Chelagang ADC Village under Gomati district.
A press conference was convened on Sunday by the organizing committee, where chairman Dipal Chakma outlined the preparations for the three-day festival. The event will showcase the rich cultural heritage, traditional sports, and customs of the Chakma community.
The Biju festival, one of the most significant celebrations of the Chakma tribe, is organized annually in different parts of the state on a rotational basis. This year, it is being hosted under the initiative of the Chakma Social Council at the Jharjharia school ground.
Participants from various districts, including Unakoti, North Tripura, Dhalai, and regions like Muhuribam and Fenibam in South Tripura, are expected to attend in large numbers.
The organizing committee has extended an open invitation to people from all communities to join and celebrate the three-day cultural festival.
