Khowai, Mar 28. In a significant political development ahead of the TTAADC polls on 12th April 2026, the BJP has claimed that as many as 351 families, comprising around 1,112 voters from Tipra Motha and various other party joined the party during a programme held at Bachaibari in Khowai on Saturday.
The joining programme was organised at a community hall in support of the BJP candidate and former sitting MDC Ananta Debbarma for the 9-Asharambari–Halahali constituency. The event was attended by Tribal Welfare Minister Bikash Debbarma, BJP district president Binoy Debbarma, organisational leader Samir Orang, Mandal president Jayanta Debbarma, and other party leaders.
According to BJP leaders, the large-scale induction indicates growing public support for the party in the region ahead of the ADC polls.
Addressing the gathering, Minister Bikash Debbarma alleged that attempts were made to disrupt the programme and prevent supporters from attending. He further accused Tipra Motha Party candidate Prasmit Debbarma of allegedly issuing threats to stop the event, though these claims remain unverified.
He also criticised Tipra Motha, alleging internal divisions and lack of discipline within the party. Expressing confidence, Debbarma said BJP candidate Ananta Debbarma would win by a large margin and that the party is poised to secure all seats in the elections.
On a similar note, BJP candidate Ananta Debbarma urged voters to support the party, assuring development in the constituency.
The programme concluded with the newly joined members being formally welcomed into the BJP by handing over party flags.
