Kanchanpur witnessed a significant show of strength by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as Minister Santana Chakma joined party leaders, workers, and supporters in a massive rally ahead of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections. The rally reflected the party’s growing organizational momentum in the region as it gears up for a crucial electoral contest.
Earlier on Tuesday, the BJP announced its candidates for all 28 ADC seats, underlining its intent to fight the elections with full force. According to the list, Rabindra Reang has been nominated from the Jampui–Damcherra constituency, while sitting leader Shailendra Nath has been re-nominated from the Dasda–Kanchanpur seat.
By Wednesday noon, both candidates, accompanied by prominent party leaders including Industry and Commerce Minister Santana Chakma, Panisagar MLA Binoy Bhushan Das, Bagbasa MLA Jadab Lal Nath, and Kanchanpur Mandal president Birendra Kar, took out a grand procession through the main roads of Kanchanpur town. Thousands of enthusiastic supporters participated in the rally, raising slogans and expressing confidence in the party’s leadership.
The rally culminated at the office of the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), where the candidates formally submitted their nomination papers before the Returning Officer amid tight security and high public engagement.
Speaking to the media after filing his nomination, Shailendra Nath highlighted his previous tenure as a Member of District Council (MDC) and appealed to voters for another opportunity to serve the people. He outlined his commitment to strengthening rural infrastructure, improving access to drinking water, enhancing educational facilities, and generating employment opportunities, with a focus on inclusive development.
Rabindra Reang also expressed confidence and pledged to prioritize development-oriented initiatives aimed at the overall progress of his constituency, assuring that the needs of all sections of society would be addressed.
The massive turnout at the rally underscored BJP’s strong grassroots mobilization in Kanchanpur. Political observers believe this display of unity and support could significantly influence the dynamics of the upcoming elections, making the contest in the region increasingly competitive and closely watched.
