Tripura, March 20, 2026: A sudden and intense hailstorm accompanied by strong winds caused widespread damage across several parts of Sabroom subdivision on Friday afternoon, leaving many families homeless.
In West Ludhua ADC Village under Satchand R.D. Block, the only dwelling house of Premananda Tripura, a resident of Kantiram Para, was completely damaged by the storm that struck around 3 PM. The powerful winds blew away the roof of the house, while heavy hailstones punctured the tin sheets, rendering the structure uninhabitable.

Premananda Tripura, a journalist by profession and a member of the Sabroom Press Club, is now forced to live in distress along with his elderly mother, wife, and young child. The family has been left with no shelter and is struggling to cope with the sudden disaster.
Speaking about the incident, a family member said, “Due to the sudden rain, hailstorm, and strong winds this afternoon, our only house has been completely damaged. We belong to a BPL family and currently have no place to stay. We humbly appeal to the government to arrange immediate shelter for us.”
The emotional toll of the disaster is evident, with family members, including women and children, seen in distress after losing their home.
Reports indicate that similar damage has occurred in several villages across the region, with many families becoming homeless. In some areas, affected residents have taken temporary shelter in nearby schools.
The affected families, including Premananda Tripura, have urged the administration to provide immediate financial assistance and rehabilitation support.
