Agartala: Mar 17. In a strict move to curb illegal activities, Madhupur Police has issued a strong warning against the use of black-tinted glass in vehicles, announcing heavy fines and legal action against violators from now on.
Officer-in-Charge Ujjal Chowdhury, who recently took charge of Madhupur Police Station, led a vehicle checking drive on Tuesday evening near Madhupur Hospital Chowmuhani along with police personnel and TSR forces. The operation primarily targeted vehicles using black films.
He stated that several cases were registered during the drive and warned that stricter enforcement will follow. Vehicles found with black-tinted glass—including private cars and Maruti vehicles—will face legal action, higher fines, and possible imprisonment.
According to the OC, some vehicle owners and drivers are allegedly using black films to carry out illegal activities, including smuggling, which is a punishable offence.
The decision gains significance as Madhupur police station under Kamalasagar Assembly constituency shares borders on three sides, making it vulnerable to cross-border smuggling. The use of black glass often prevents both police and the public from detecting such activities.
Police have now made it clear that the use of black-tinted glass in vehicles will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
