Tripura, March 12, 2026: A controversy involving social media content creators has surfaced in Agartala after a woman lodged a complaint at the West Agartala Women Police Station, alleging online defamation and harassment. The case revolves around allegations made on social media platforms concerning the personal life of a woman and the paternity of her child.
According to the complainant, several individuals including her husband Mithun Debnath, a person identified as Alamin Huncho, and another social media personality Joyshree Saha have been posting videos on Facebook making unverified claims about her character. The woman alleged that the videos have damaged her reputation and made it difficult for her to move freely in society.

Speaking to reporters outside the police station, the woman stated that the accused individuals have been spreading false allegations without any proof.
She claimed that due to these videos circulating on social media, she and her child are facing social stigma. The woman urged the accused to immediately delete the videos from Facebook and stop the online campaign against her.
The complainant further said that her husband no longer lives with her and is currently staying with another woman in Gandhinagar, Agartala. She alleged that despite not divorcing her legally, he has remarried and is now denying paternity of their child.
The woman also claimed that she had proposed a DNA test to resolve the issue, but according to her, the husband has not agreed to undergo the test.
Meanwhile, Joyshree Saha, who was named in the allegations, has denied wrongdoing and presented her own version of events. In a separate statement, she said that her intention was only to seek justice for the child and encourage the woman to pursue legal remedies.
Joyshree Saha stated that she had advised the woman to approach the legal system instead of relying solely on social media. She also claimed that some individuals have used her name and image without permission in videos circulating online.
According to Saha, she is prepared to approach higher authorities, including the Chief Minister, if necessary, to ensure that the child receives legal recognition and support from the father.
She further announced that she had come to the police station to file an FIR against three individuals—Riya Shil, Mithun Debnath, and Alamin Huncho—alleging harassment and misuse of her identity on social media.
The case highlights the growing role of social media in personal disputes and the legal consequences of online accusations without verified evidence. Police are expected to examine the complaint and the digital evidence, including videos and call recordings, as part of their investigation.
Further developments are awaited as authorities review the allegations from both sides.
