Dharmanagar: Mar 10. The Tripura government, through the District Health and Family Welfare Society, today honoured exceptional ASHA (Accredited Social Health Activist) workers and ASHA Facilitators at a district-level awards ceremony. Eight ASHA workers received certificates for their outstanding contributions, while 10 ASHA Facilitators were presented with e-bicycles to support their fieldwork.
The ceremony, held at the Ardhendu Bhattacharya Memorial Hall at 1:30 PM, was attended by DM Chandni Chandan, District Vice President Bhavtosh Das, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Dipak Haldar, Dr. Alok Kumar Dhar, and other officials. The event commenced with a lamp-lighting ceremony, followed by speeches emphasizing the vital role ASHA workers play in promoting rural health awareness.
ASHA workers are instrumental in educating communities on nutrition, maternal and child health, sanitation, and personal hygiene. They also provide family planning guidance and help control diseases such as tuberculosis, malaria, and dengue by identifying suspected cases and facilitating timely treatment.
The awards aim to recognise and motivate ASHA workers and facilitators for their significant contributions to grassroots healthcare in the district.
