Dharmanagar: Mar 08. A special awareness programme titled “Her Health Heaven” was organised in Dharmanagar on Sunday to mark International Women’s Day, aiming to promote awareness of women’s health and hygiene.
The programme was jointly organised by the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM) and the North Tripura district administration at the Vivekananda Sardha Shatabarshiki Bhavan premises from 11 am.
The event focused on creating awareness among women on key health issues such as adolescent pregnancy, reproductive and sexual health, prevention of unwanted pregnancies, personal hygiene and the importance of preventive health check-ups.
Sabhadhipati of North Tripura Zilla Parishad Aparna Nath inaugurated the programme. North Tripura District Magistrate Chandni Chandran attended as the chief guest.
Among others present were Dharmanagar Sub-Divisional Magistrate Devayani Chowdhury, Officer-in-Charge of Dharmanagar Police Station Mina Debbarma, gynaecologist of the District Hospital Dr Ankita Bhattacharya, and North District DISE counsellor Sauriya Parveen. The programme was presided over by Rakhi Debnath, president of Alor Dishari CLF.
The event began with the traditional lighting of the ceremonial lamp and felicitation of the guests. Speakers highlighted the importance of women’s health awareness, rights and empowerment.
Products prepared by members of self-help groups were also presented to the guests. The programme featured an interactive question–answer session along with cultural performances, including the traditional Hojagiri folk dance and Rabindra Nritya.
A large number of self-help group members and students from across the district attended the event. Officials said similar initiatives would continue to be organised in the future to strengthen women’s health awareness and empowerment.
