Ambassa, Mar 6: The winners of the ‘Clean Hostel Green Hostel Campaign 2026’ in Dhalai district were awarded during a ceremony held on Friday at the Panchayat Raj Training Institute in Ambassa. The initiative was organized by the district’s Tribal Welfare Department to encourage cleanliness and better maintenance in government hostels.
Tripura Tribal Welfare Minister Bikash Debbarma inaugurated the programme. Among the other dignitaries present were Zilla Sabhadhipati Sushmita Das, MDCs Bhumika Nanda Reang, Bidyut Debbarma, and District Magistrate Vivek H. B.
In Dhalai district, there are a total of 34 hostels, including 21 boys’ hostels and 13 girls’ hostels. Three hostels from each category were selected for awards. The first prize carried ₹30,000, while the second and third prizes were ₹20,000 each.
Among boys’ hostels, Gondatwisa ST Boys Hostel secured the first position, followed by Kamalpur SC/ST Boys Hostel in second place and Ganganagar ST Boys Hostel in third. In the girls’ category, K.C. Girls SC/ST Hostel won first place, Manughat ST Girls Hostel secured second, and Gondatwisa ST Girls Hostel finished third.
Addressing the gathering, Minister Debbarma said the campaign was launched to promote cleanliness and better living conditions in hostels.
He stressed that education is the foundation of development and stated that the government is working to ensure proper educational opportunities for students. He also announced that the government has already decided to recruit 170 hostel superintendents to improve hostel management across the state.
