Khowai, March 5: The Baijalbari Police arrested five youths on Thursday afternoon following allegations of abducting and gang-raping a 16-year-old girl.
According to Baijalbari Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Jugal Tripura, the victim’s parents filed a formal complaint at the station at 11:00 AM on Thursday. The parents reported that their daughter was forcibly taken from her home at approximately 9:00 PM on Wednesday night.
The suspects allegedly transported the minor to a rubber plantation located behind the Labanya Chowdhury Para School, where the assault took place.
Upon receiving the complaint, police conducted a swift operation and apprehended all five accused individuals from the Hatimara area. The arrested suspects have been identified as Bishal Debbarma (24), Elence Debbarma (22), Bapi Debbarma (23), Khachang Debbarma (22), and Tushar Debbarma (24).
The police have registered a case against the five individuals, and further legal proceedings and investigations are currently underway.
