Tripura, March 4, 2026: A nearly 23-year-old box culvert located in Purba Manikya Dewan Gram Panchayat under Karbook RD Block suddenly collapsed on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, triggering concern and anger among local residents.
The culvert, which had reportedly remained neglected for many years, served as the only reliable route for transportation for villagers in the area. Its sudden collapse has severely disrupted movement and created panic among residents who depend on the route for daily commuting.
Significantly, a polling station is located around 200 meters from the collapsed site, raising concerns that the damaged culvert could hamper access during upcoming elections or other official activities if not repaired quickly.
Local residents have demanded immediate repair or construction of a new culvert to restore connectivity and ensure safe movement.
Upon receiving information about the incident, Tipra Motha’s Karbook Block Committee Secretary Bishal Debbarma visited the spot to inspect the damage. After surveying the affected area, he assured residents that he would bring the matter to the attention of the administration and urged authorities to take swift action to resolve the issue.
